American politician Maura Healey was inaugurated as Governor of Massachusetts on 9 January 2023, defeating Republican representative Geoff Diehl. The 52-year-old is the country’s first openly gay governor.

Maura Healey and her partner, Joanna Lydagte, are yet to tie the wedding knot. However, their relationship of two years is still going strong.
Healey’s wife-to-be Joanna is the CEO and Co-Founder of a nonpartisan organization named the State United Democracy Center. Since 2020, the association has given legal authority, policy, research, and communication aid to state officials who conduct elections.
Previously, Maura’s partner Joanna was the Chief Deputy Attorney General of Massachusetts. Under her position, she set up multi-state litigation and cooperated with a bipartisan group of peers all over the country to uphold common values.
Lydgate, who earned a degree from Yale University, was also responsible for criminal implementation, communicating with local, state, and federal regulatory authorities daily.
Likewise, she served in the Civil Rights Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office as an Assistant Attorney General. She worked under Judge Norman H. Stahl as a law clerk, on the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Maura Healey has been dating attorney Joanna Lydgate for about two years. The Bethesda-born Democratic member just revealed her romance with Lydgate.
Meanwhile, Healey remarked that being governor, she must disclose more of herself than what she performed as attorney general. Especially the women and their loved ones are ready for the two of them to come out.
In January, Maura openly talked about her relationship in public. Holding hands with her lover on a couch in the governor’s occupied North Cambridge residence, she stated, “I feel really happy today, being able to tell this story.”
Further, she said, “This is a person I love very uch and I have great respect and admiration for.” As per Boston.com, Maura and Lydgate were initially good buddies while serving in the attorney general’s office for the civil rights division in 2010.
Once, Joanna was chief deputy of her now-lover Healey. In the summer of 2020, she quit the position to operate The States United Democracy Center. After a few months, the two ended up dating each other.
In an early interview, Muara revealed she was very close to Joanna when they worked together in the office. But, the two realized they have something more than friendship after they stopped working together. She remarked, “It has been a really beautiful, unexpected journey.”
