In an early episode of Pierre Edwards’ podcast, Rickey Smiley appeared to talk about his divorce from his former wife, Brenda Morris, after 12 years of their marriage.
Following their separation, Smiley has remained single, so he doesn’t have anyone to refer to as his wife as of 2023. On the other hand, Brenda moved on and tied the knot with her second husband, Tarius.
In a conversation with Pierre, the Birmingham-born comedian shared that when the two got married (back then), Brenda began working for Delta Airlines, where she is still a flight attendant.
He also stated,
“She still flies for Delta, I jump on the plane every now and then and she’s working. We’re cool.”
After a short time, Smiley posted a video to his YouTube channel in May 2022 under the title, “Reason Why My Ex-Wife Didn’t Take My Last Name,” revealing his former spouse didn’t change her name during their marriage.
According to Rickey, Brenda never took his surname, but he also clarified that it wasn’t intentional. He remarked, “She just never got around to it.” It was also due to her work for Delta that she didn’t take his surname.

Sadly, Rickey’s son Brandon (32) is no longer in this world. Reportedly, he was discovered unconscious in his Birmingham house, but the actual cause is yet to be uncovered.
On 30 January 2023, the television host shared on Instagram that he lost his eldest son, Brandon. Also, he asked his admirers to pray for his whole family, including his son’s mother, Brenda.
It’s painful for Rickey to face this terrific incident. Three years ago, he also lost his daughter, Aaryn, who was killed during a road rage accident in July 2020.
Rickey Smiley Has Lovely Grandkids
The prankster has two grandkids born to his late son Brandon i.e., Storm (3), and a grandson named Grayson (6).
On the latest episode of the Tamron Hall Show, Rickey opened up that his granddaughter helped him to cope with “the most difficult day of his life,” referring to his son’s funeral day.
The father of four says, “God is good. He let me just end my day by pushing my granddaughter on the swing.” Further, he added his grandkids are now healing his heart in different ways.
